Various Options for Writing Your UK Will

Will Writing UK

I’ve researched the options for Writing your UK Will. Here are the alternatives:

Option 1 – Do It Yourself – Completely

You can quick simply write your own UK Will either by hand or on your PC. This is absolutely free and will only cost you your time. The disadvantage is that there is a chance that your Will is not legally correct. Solicitors make a lot more money from sorting out people’s faulty Wills than they ever do from writing Wills.

Option 2- Do It Yourself – Using a Printed Form

A very inexpensive option is to use a Will Form of some sort. I have actually tried this myself and yes, the forms came with instructions.

This is a very cheap option so you will not have the benefit of being able to ask questions and get answers to queries. However, you can get a DIY Will Kit produced by a reputable firm from Amazon and it will be posted to you home in no time. See Last Will and Testament Kit

Option 3 – Do It Yourself – Using a Book

I tend to be a bit of a control freak and I am a very poor delegator so this way appeals to me! Anyway, you can learn how Will Writing UK works by using an up to date, authoritative book about the subject. Again, Amazon has a couple in stock that you can order over the internet. The one I have is very, very comprehensive and is called A Practitioner’s Guide to Wills but it quite dear at £40+.

The same author is also on Amazon with a book that gets great reviews. It’s much more affordable and is called A Step-by-step Guide to Wills and Probate

One more alternative (which gets very good reviews but is not quite as good) is Wills, Probate and Inheritance Tax for Dummies and is also worth considering.

Option 4 – Write Your Will On-line, instantly

There is a service where you can get everything done on line for you with no waiting at all. You compete the forms on line, make payment and – hey presto – you can download your Will to print off and get signed and witnessed.

Now, the advantages here are speed and cost. You get the Will made in a few minutes (literally) and it’s the cheapest way of Making a Will legally and professionally.

However, you do not get to speak to a real person and ask any questions. You might have some query that you would like to be settled first but you cannot call anyone. It may be that you are fine with this approach and that your matters are straightforward. This is a cheap and quick way of doing things but you just need to be sure that you are happy with everything that you are doing.

If so, why not write your Will this way? The firm has made Wills thousands of people and offers a money back guarantee, so you can be confident in their services.

Option 5 – Use a Professional Will Writing Firm

Solicitors are very expensive and can be quite imposing to deal with. You also have to book an appointment and physically go and see the lawyer in their office which can be inconvenient, especially if you are not able to get about easily or if it means taking time off work.

Professional Will Writing Firms have been around for a long time. In fact, there is quite a history to this profession. The advantages of this method of writing your Will are that you are in safe, experienced hands (assuming you choose a good firm) and the price will be a lot less than a solicitor. It’s very convenient, too.

There is a firm that will also do everything for you over the telephone or they will be happy to come to see you. This gives you the advantage of being able to speak to a real person who can answer your queries and reassure you about everything so you have confidence that the matter is dealt with correctly. They will then prepare the Will for you.

I think that this is good alternative because it is very convenient.  You also get to deal with a person and it is still far less expensive than a solicitor. I recommend this firm because they offer a very good, professional service.  They have written Wills for over 100 000 people and they offer a MONEY BACK GUARANTEE which gives you complete peace of mind.  They are proud of their customer care and they offer a Will Writing service anywhere in the UK.

You can find them at www.Willdrafters.co.uk

Please let me know how you find these alternatives so I can keep these reviews up to date.

Good luck with writing your Will!

John Higgins
